Latest rankings continue upward trend for Penn State Smeal MBA Program

The Penn State Smeal College of Business MBA Program has been ranked 31st overall and 12th among public business schools in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, which were released today. The ranking is Smeal’s highest in more than 20 years in U.S. News & World Report. It continues an upward trend for the Smeal MBA, which has risen 18 rankings spots over the past five years.

Penn State Executive Programs includes middle management program in spring portfolio of offerings

Penn State Executive Programs, part of the Smeal College of Business, has introduced a new open-enrollment offering designed for mid-level managers among its spring and fall programs. Registration for all programs is now open. The three-part “Developing Middle Managers” program is delivered on the Penn State University Park campus. Middle managers may turn to unethical behavior to face unrealistic expectations

While unethical behavior in organizations is often portrayed as flowing down from top management, or creeping up from low-level positions, a team of researchers suggest that middle management also can play a key role in promoting wide-spread unethical behavior among their subordinates. In a study of a large telecommunications company, researchers found that middle managers used a range of tactics to inflate their subordinates' performance and deceive top management, according to Linda Treviño, distinguished professor of organizational behavior and ethics in the Smeal College of Business.
