Penn State Online MBA rises three spots to No. 6 in U.S. News' Best Online Programs rankings

January 14, 2020

The Penn State Online MBA tied for No. 6 overall in U.S. News’ 2020 Best Online Programs rankings, released Jan. 14, up three spots from the previous year.

The AACSB-accredited program, led by the internationally ranked Penn State Smeal College of Business and delivered online through Penn State World Campus, earned high scores in multiple ranking indicators including the preparedness of qualified instructors teaching remotely (94); student satisfaction and instructor responsiveness (90); and school selectivity of admitting highly qualified applicants (84); with each having the maximum possible value of 100.

This marks the fourth consecutive year the program has ranked in the top 10.

“We are pleased to again be recognized by U.S. News as one of the top online MBA programs,” said Stacey Dorang Peeler, Penn State Online MBA managing director. “Our many partnerships and resources at Penn State allow us to offer a menu of more than 20 concentration choices that serve an extremely diverse span of interests. This accolade is a testament to our dedication in delivering an excellent program to a student body of exceptionally talented individuals.”

Each year, U.S. News develops the rankings based on statistical surveys submitted by colleges and universities as well as data collected in a separate peer-reputation survey. The five weighted categories used for online MBA programs include engagement; expert opinion; faculty credentials and training; student excellence; and student services and technologies.

U.S. News also ranked Penn State Online MBA No. 4 in its Best Online Programs for Veterans lists.  Those rankings are based on the same factors as its Best Online Programs rankings in addition to an institution’s ability to make college more affordable and accessible through the GI Bill or other grant-in-aid programs designed for military students.

The Penn State Online MBA is a 48-credit program that offers flexibility and the ability to customize in more than 20 concentrations such as business analytics, corporate innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing analytics, strategic leadership, and supply chain management.

The standard application deadline for summer 2020 admission is Feb. 15, and the early application deadline for fall 2020 admission is March 1.
