Patrick Begg, who will graduate summa cum laude Saturday with a 3.97 GPA, has been selected as Smeal’s summer 2019 student marshal. The State College native maximized his 10 semesters at Smeal through the Integrated MAcc Program, earning a master’s in accounting, as well as bachelor’s degrees in finance and accounting.

Companies' political leanings influence engagement with activists

Liberal-leaning companies are more likely to work in concert with the demands of activists of all kinds than conservative-leaning companies, according to researchers at Penn State and the University of Washington. The findings suggest that not all companies make concessions to activists as a result of threats but may instead have a workforce that is more amenable to activists’ requests.

The University of Passau in Germany recently bestowed yet another honor on world-renowned management scholar Donald C. Hambrick, Evan Pugh University Professor and Smeal Chaired Professor of Management at the Penn State Smeal College of Business.
