Mike Waldhier, admissions director of the Smeal MBA Program, said that changes to the program have resonated with the right students.
The Penn State Smeal College of Business MBA Program has been ranked 31st overall and 12th among public business schools in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, which were released today.

The ranking is Smeal’s highest in more than 20 years in U.S. News & World Report. It continues an upward trend for the Smeal MBA, which has risen 18 rankings spots over the past five years.

This placement in the rankings comes on the heels of a No. 25 ranking for the program in Bloomberg Businessweek in January.

“We’ve now improved in three different major rankings this year, and I think it’s because we’ve made some significant positive changes to the program that are resonating with students,” said Michael Waldhier, admissions director of the Smeal MBA program.

“Our curriculum is more flexible, and we’re selective about bringing the right students into the program. We’re an extremely tight knit and extraordinarily collaborative group, and we’ve really solidified what it means to be part of the Smeal MBA family.”

In U.S. News & World Report, Smeal also was ranked No. 5 in Supply Chain/Logistics.

Graduate education at Smeal has been changing rapidly in recent years with significant curriculum and structural changes to the college’s MBA and Executive MBA Programs and the addition of several new offerings including the one-year Master’s in Management and Organizational Leadership
