KPMG CEO headlines speaker list at 2018 Powerful Women conference

The 2018 Powerful Women Paving the Way Conference, which is hosted by the Penn State Smeal College of Business and its student-run Women in Business Organization, will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a list of dynamic speakers. 

Headlining that list is Lynne Doughtie, KPMG chairman and CEO, who will be the dinner keynote speaker at 6 p.m. Thursday. 

In addition to Doughtie, Julie Younglove-Webb, senior vice president of operations at Potbelly, Natalie Stavas, pediatric physician and Boston Marathon hero, and Vicki Huff Eckert, U.S. and global new venture and innovation leader for PwC, will also speak. 

Younglove-Webb, has been senior VP of operations at Potbelly Sandwich Shop since 2015. She joined Potbelly in 2008 as a general manager. She transitioned to district manager and central zone vice president. Prior to Potbelly, she held several leadership positions at Sears Holding Corporation. Younglove-Webb, who earned a master in marketing from Penn State in 1997, will kick off the conference at 4:45 p.m. Thursday with a fireside chat. 

Doughtie became the first female chairman and CEO of KPMG, one of the big four professional services companies. She is also a member of KPMG’s Global Board and Executive Committee. Doughtie joined KPMG’s Audit practice in 1985 and was promoted to a series of leadership positions, including vice chair of KPMG’s Advisory business in 2011. 

Stavas works as a physician at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She was hailed as a hero for her response to bombings that shook the Boston Marathon five years ago. As she neared the finish line of her fifth Boston Marathon, the bombs detonated. Her medical attention to the bombing victims earned her recognition from President Barack Obama and to her being named 2013 Bostonian of the Year. She will deliver the Friday morning keynote. 

Huff Eckert, who earned a bachelor’s in accounting from Penn State in 1990, will deliver the keynote address for Friday’s networking lunch. Huff Eckert has more than 25 years of experience in working with technology companies to innovate and execute growth strategies. She leads PwC’s U.S. and Global New Business and Innovation unit. Previously, she led PwC’s Global Technology, InfoComm, Entertainment and Media Industry unit.
