Executive Insights: Former TradeStation head to speak at Penn State Smeal leadership series

October 11, 2018

Salomon Sredni, the co-founder, partner and managing director of Ocean Azul Partners and the co-founder and president of Chronwell, Inc., will share his viewpoints on business, leadership, and entrepreneurship with the Penn State Smeal College of Business on Friday. His visit is part of Smeal’s Executive Insights series.

Sredni will take part in a moderated discussion with Charles H. Whiteman, John and Becky Surma Dean of Smeal, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. in the Struthers Auditorium, Room 110 of the Business Building. The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required.

Executive Insights will be streamed on Facebook Live on Smeal’s Facebook page.

Sredni’s visit is the second of three Executive Insight sessions planned for the fall semester. Steven Collis is scheduled to visit the Business Building on Oct. 26. Richard Bard kicked off the series on Sept. 28.

Sredni earned a degree in accounting from Penn State and then embarked on a career that has involved technology, healthcare and financial services across domestic and international markets with both private and publicly traded companies.

He is best known for the nearly 21 years he spent at TradeStation Group, one of the largest online brokers in the United States, where he was board member, president and CEO.

Ocean Azul Partners is a venture capital firm that invests in startups and early stage companies across various industries. Chronwell, Inc., is a startup that focuses on combining technology with innovative processes to reduce the cost of workers compensation while increasing the satisfaction of and improving the outcomes for injured workers.

Sredni is a member of the Smeal Board of Visitors and is the volunteer chair for the college’s fundraising efforts in “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence.” In spring 2016, he delivered Smeal’s commencement address.

Executive Insights is designed to complement the Smeal educational experience by bringing high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Past guests include leaders from organizations such as Amazon, Archer Daniels Midland, Barclays, Bard Capital, LLC, BASF, Boeing, Credit Suisse, Dell, Deloitte, Dick’s Sporting Goods, EY, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Kohl’s, KPMG, Macy’s, National Retail Federation, Nestlé, Oracle, Procter & Gamble, PwC, Samsung, Siemens, Verizon, Tumi Holdings, Inc., and Urban Outfitters.
