Penn State Smeal students team up to take second in international case competition
Four finance students from the Penn State Smeal College of Business teamed up to take second place in February in the Heavener International Case Competition (HICC) at the University of Florida.
Junior finance majors Parker Cahn, John George, Hailey Kaunert, and Sarah Weigand comprised Smeal’s team.
Each team was given two cases as part of the week-long event. One, written by Northrop Grumman, gave teams six hours to develop a plan for recruiting and retaining millennials. Another, written by CSX, gave teams 30 hours to devise a plan to spend $500 million in the company aimed at supporting the four main pillars of its strategic plan.
The HICC featured teams from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) split into five-team divisions.
