Penn State Smeal’s DeSarbo named ASA Fellow

Wayne DeSarbo of the Penn State Smeal College of Business, Distinguished Smeal Chaired Professor of Marketing and executive director of the Center for Sports Business and Research, has been named a fellow of the American Statistical Association. 

Fellows undergo a rigorous nomination process and DeSarbo’s selection represents his “outstanding contributions to the statistical profession.” 

A member of the Smeal faculty since 1996, DeSarbo has published more than 120 articles in leading journals, has been the editor of nearly a half dozen journals, and is a member of or served on the boards of myriad professional organizations. 

DeSarbo holds a Ph.D. in marketing and statistics, an M.A. in marketing, an M.A. in industrial sociology and a B.S. in economics, all from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an M.A. in administrative science from Yale. 

DeSarbo will be presented with his award on Aug. 2 in Chicago at the Joint Statistical Meetings Awards Ceremony.
