Alumni Board Raises Scholarship Funds in Honor of Dean Thomas
To recognize the service of James B. Thomas, the John and Becky Surma Dean of the Penn State Smeal College of Business, and his wife, Michele Thomas, the Smeal Alumni Society Board has raised $37,850 in contributions to its existing Smeal Alumni Society Board Trustee Scholarship.
Simons Commit $50,000 to Establish Trustee Scholarship in Smeal
Penn State alumni William and Jeri Simon have established the Simon Family Trustee Scholarship in the Penn State Smeal College of Business. With gift-matching funds from the H.J. Heinz foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports charitable giving by all H.J. Heinz Co. employees, the endowment will be valued at $50,000, and its impact will be doubled with support from the University's Trustee Matching Scholarship Program.
Ambrose Appointed Ph.D. Director
The Penn State Smeal College of Business has appointed Brent Ambrose, Smeal Professor of Risk Management, to direct the college's Ph.D. program, effective July 1. Ambrose replaces Susan Xu, professor of management science and supply chain management.
Chobor Pledges $50,000 in Support of Smeal's Trading Room
Penn State alumnus Craig Chobor has committed a gift of $50,000 to the Smeal College of Business in support of the Rogers Family Trading Room in the Business Building. The gift is part of the Rogers Trading Room Challenge, which was established by Penn State alumni and longtime benefactors J. David and Patricia Maloney Rogers.
