Smeal Collecting Mickey Bergstein Memories for Book
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (March 2, 2011) – The Department of Marketing at the Penn State Smeal College of Business is creating a memory book for retired faculty member Milton "Mickey" Bergstein, associate professor emeritus of marketing, and is soliciting stories, memories and photos from friends, alumni and colleagues for inclusion in the book.
Those wishing to submit content for the book can do so online here. Former students and colleagues are encouraged to contribute to the book with their favorite memory of Bergstein or other stories about how he impacted their lives. Once completed, the book will be presented to Bergstein.
A member of the Penn State class of 1943, Bergstein got his start in higher education in 1950 teaching a sales class for the Marketing Department. He joined the Smeal faculty full time in 1975, where he served until his retirement in 2001, when he was granted emeritus status.
He also spent time at Smeal as director of external relations and was a director in the college's executive education programs. He is a two-time winner of Smeal's Fred Brand Jr. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and, in 1988, was named the University's Renaissance Man of the Year.
Prior to joining academia full time, Bergstein spent 28 years in broadcasting as the general manager of two State College radio stations and as an announcer and producer for Penn State football radio broadcasts. He also served as president of The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.
Bergstein is the author of Living Among Lions and Penn State Sports Stories and More.
