Smeal Honors Two with Teaching Awards
The Penn State Smeal College of Business has presented two faculty members with 2009-2010 Fred Brand Jr. and Dillwyn P. Paiste III awards, the college's highest honors for teaching. Lou Gattis, clinical associate professor of finance, has been awarded the Fred Brand Jr. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Robert Macy, clinical assistant professor of entrepreneurship, has been awarded the Dillwyn P. Paiste III Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

A new book compilation of writings on leadership by some of the world's top management experts and executive coaches features a chapter contributed by Albert Vicere, executive education professor of strategic leadership at the Penn State Smeal College of Business.
Marketing Students Raise More than $2,300 to Fight Juvenile Diabetes
As part of an assignment to test social influence techniques, students in two sections of a Consumer Behavior course at the Penn State Smeal College of Business raised more than $2,300 for this year's State College Walk for Juvenile Diabetes, to be held on May 22 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Smeal's Garber VC Fund Invests in Healthy Humans
The MBA student-managed Garber Venture Capital Fund at the Penn State Smeal College of Business closed its investment in Healthy Humans LLC, a provider of e-health portals for patients and doctors to improve health outcomes and lower costs, during the spring 2010 semester. The $150,000 investment will be used to expand the Healthy Humans HealthHub continuity-care platform to additional physician practices and insurers.
