Smeal Awards 2008-2009 Doctoral Scholarships

Penn State's Smeal College of Business has awarded eight doctoral students with scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (June 25, 2008) – Penn State's Smeal College of Business has awarded eight doctoral students with scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Marco Rossi, a doctoral student in the Department of Finance, has been selected as the recipient of the Ossian R. MacKenzie Teaching Award.  Kyle H. MacKenzie created this award in honor of her late husband, Ossian R. MacKenzie, the first dean of the Smeal College of Business.

Dan Chiaburu, a doctoral student in the Department of Management and Organization, has been selected as the recipient of the Edward and Susan Wilson Graduate Scholarship Award. The Wilson Scholarship was endowed by Edward and Susan Wilson as a result of their strong involvement in the Penn State Alumni Association and their commitment to Penn State.

Andrew Davis and Bryan Johnson, doctoral students in the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems and the Department of Marketing, respectively, have been selected as the recipients of the Peter E. Liberti and Judy D. Olian Scholarship. Peter E. Liberti and Judy D. Olian, the previous dean of the Smeal College of Business, created this award to support the education of the next generation of business faculty.

Four doctoral students have been selected as recipients of Jean and Charles Ryder Graduate Fellowships. They are Sam Bonsall in the Department of Accounting, Kunter Gunasit in the Department of Marketing, Zheng Jia in the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems, and Lubomir Petrasek in the Department of Finance.

The Ryder Fellowships were endowed by Jean and Charles Ryder to support the Smeal College of Business in its goal of continuing to be a top business program.
