Students Honored With Circle Of Excellence Awards
Two graduating students from Penn State's Smeal College of Business were honored with Circle of Excellence Awards in April as part of the college's Mitte Scholarship Program. The program annually awards undergraduate and graduate scholarships as part of a 20-year committment from the Texas-based Roy F. and Joann Cole Mitte Foundation established in 2000.
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (May 2, 2005)—Two graduating students from Penn State's Smeal College of Business were honored with Circle of Excellence Awards in April as part of the college's Mitte Scholarship Program. The program annually awards undergraduate and graduate scholarships as part of a 20-year committment from the Texas-based Roy F. and Joann Cole Mitte Foundation established in 2000.
Undergraduate Jaclyn Walkowiak and MBA Alexis Saponsky were nominated for the awards based on their academic achievement, leadership ability, exemplary behavior, citizenship, and community involvement. Walkowiak graduates with bachelor's degrees in marketing and international business and Italian. Saponsky graduates with an MBA focused on supply chain management.
During a reception on April 11, Walkowiak and Saponsky were honored and all graduating Mitte MBA fellows and undergraduate scholars were presented with certificates of achievement.
Smeal students who are selected as Mitte Scholars (undergraduates) or Mitte Fellows (MBAs) receive a $5,000 award, which can be renewed each year for up to four years. Recipients of the merit-based scholarships must maintain superior academic records each semester and participate in community service. For more on the program, visit www.smeal.psu.edu/mitte.
