UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (April 22, 2005)—The Penn State Marketing Association (PSMA), one of 29 student organizations at the Smeal College of Business, recently was named top chapter in the Eastern Region during the American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. PSMA also took first place for its use of the conference theme during the exhibit competition at the event.
To earn distinction as a top regional chapter, conference judges evaluated organizations based on professional development, community service, membership, operations, communications, and chapter planning. Each organization submitted a chapter plan and annual report to be considered for the honor.
Eighteen members of the PSMA Executive Board attended the conference from April 14 - 17. Their award-winning tradeshow booth, designed to leverage the conference theme—“A Goodyear to Rev Up Your Marketing Career”—illustrated the activities of PSMA during the past year, resulting in PSMA’s first award in the competition.
With approximately 230 members, PSMA is one of the largest student-run organizations at Penn State and in the nation. Its mission is to provide members with information on marketing and career issues; to offer opportunities to gain practical management and marketing experience; and to maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders including the American Marketing Association, corporations, and the community.
PSMA also was recently honored by Penn State’s Undergraduate Student Government as the most active club on campus.
