Smeal College Supply Chain Management Professor Receives Fulbright Award
Alan Stenger, a professor of supply chain management at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, has been selected for a Fulbright Senior Specialist Grant in Business Administration. Stenger will spend nearly a month demonstrating specialized software, participating in research projects, and attending seminars and conferences at the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland.

The New York Times this past week posed the perennial question, "Why don't more women get to the top?" The answer, according to the writer Lisa Belkin, is that they choose not to. The article featured two groups, each comprised of young women with advanced degrees. The women had been progressing nicely in their careers toward law partnerships or senior executive positions. All chose to step off the career ladder. They elected, at least for a period, to become mothers.

Smeal College Professor's Study Points To Less Money For Some Home Sellers
Owners of lower-priced homes should be wary of entering into alternative listing arrangements with real estate brokers—namely exclusive agency contracts that allow sellers to avoid paying commission—according to a study co-authored by Abdullah Yavas of Penn State University's Smeal College of Business. The study finds that such arrangements typically result in a lower price-of-sale and therefore less money for the seller.
