eBusiness Research Center Readies The Power Of One

A follow-up book to the award-winning Pushing the Digital Frontier: Insights into the Changing Landscape of E-Business is under development for publication in Fall 2002. Like its predecessor, The Power of One - Leveraging the Potential of Personalization Technologies , is being created under the auspices of Penn State's eBusiness Research Center (eBRC), and will be co-edited by Nirmal Pal, Executive Director of the eBRC, and Arvind Rangaswamy, research director of the eBRC and director of the e-Incubator Laboratory in Penn State's Smeal College of Business.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- A follow-up book to the award-winning Pushing the Digital Frontier: Insights into the Changing Landscape of E-Business is under development for publication in Fall 2002. Like its predecessor, The Power of One - Leveraging the Potential of Personalization Technologies , is being created under the auspices of Penn State's eBusiness Research Center (eBRC), and will be co-edited by Nirmal Pal, Executive Director of the eBRC, and Arvind Rangaswamy, research director of the eBRC and director of the e-Incubator Laboratory in Penn State's Smeal College of Business.

"We'll examine personalization issues and opportunities that can be leveraged with evolving technologies with evolving technologies. This book will also contain in-depth analysis by renowned thought leaders from the corporate and academic worlds," says Pal.

Pushing the Digital Frontier was selected as one of the two "Outstanding Academic Titles of 2001" by CHOICE Magazine. CHOICE magazine is a publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries, which is a division of American Library Association. CHOICE publishes definitive reviews of significant current books and electronic media of interest to those in higher education. Most academic libraries in the U.S. use CHOICE for selecting and purchasing materials. The book was co-edited with Judith Ray, a doctoral candidate at Penn State.

"When we created Pushing the Digital Frontier , we brought together the best minds on the new rules of business and best strategic practices to contribute chapters, and they provided a global overview of the facets of the rapidly changing digital world. We're using the same approach for The Power of One ," says Pal.

Contributors for The Power of One include many well known industry leaders such as Kirk Rothrock, president of Intracorp, a unit of Cigna Health Services; Mary Donato, vice president of Xerox's TeleWeb sales unit; Terry Madonia of AT&T; Wireless, and a host of academic thought leaders from Penn State, University of Maryland, Bentley College, University of Alberta, Carnegie Mellon, and Georgia Tech University.

The Power of One will be published by AMACOM (the publishing division of the American Management Association) and will be available in Fall 2002. AMACOM also published Pushing the Digital Frontier , which lists for $27.99 and is available at online books stores Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com.

The eBRC-a joint effort of Penn State's Smeal College of Business and the School of Information Sciences and Technology --promotes research by academics and practitioners on various aspects of e-business, with emphasis on governance and execution issues. The primary mission of eBRC is to foster, expand, and disseminate theoretical, empirical and applied research in e-business and to bring research insights to its supporting members and help them with e-business practice.
