Penny-Stock Serenade Can Fast Become The Blues

…Whatever the reason, tread carefully in the penny stock game if you are on the outside looking in. Penny stocks are easily manipulated. They are thinly traded -meaning there isn't a lot of volume - and they are not followed by Wall Street analysts. They are often under the radar of regulators because they trade for less than a buck. That's why it is important for investors who aren't in the know to be careful when evaluating them. "You've got to realize you can be scammed like anybody else," said Randy Woolridge, a professor of finance at Penn State's Smeal College of Business. "In that market, people don't need a lot of capital to move those stocks."
