Tom Wittig was not familiar with the business-to-business (B2B) realm of marketing when he began his Penn State education. But by the time he graduated from the Smeal College of Business in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, he had a sense that it was the career for him.

Recent Graduate's Connection to Smeal Has Deep Roots
At this year’s Penn State Smeal College of Business commencement ceremony, one Smeal grad found out she had an even deeper connection to the college than she’d realized. Charise McClure's grandmother took college classes on Penn State's DuBois campus with Frank P. Smeal, who--along with his wife Mary Jean--later would make the generous gift to the business college naming it The Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal College of Business.

Mayers Pledge $50,000 in Support of Smeal's Trading Room
Penn State alumni William J. “Bill” and Cynthia Fiedler Mayer of Boston, Mass., have expanded their philanthropy to the University with a gift of $50,000 to the Smeal College of Business in support of the Rogers Family Trading Room. They have also made a gift of $12,500 to the Men’s Ice Hockey Program.

Her longtime involvement with the Smeal Alumni Society Board has had a significant impact on her life, influencing who she is today. “If it wasn’t for Smeal and the Alumni Society Board, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Eggers said. “Through the networking opportunities and the friendships I’ve established, the board has really given back to me well more than I could have ever imagined.”

Smeal Alumni in Profile: MS&IS Alumna's Business Fosters Women's Health, Wellness
Alumna Shubha N. Janardhan graduated from the Penn State Smeal College of Business in 2004 with a degree in management science and information systems with a specialization in health care. She’s now using her experience to run her family’s company, Haselfre, including a new initiative that provides wholesome care to women in different stages of motherhood.
